Neobards is seeking a talented and experienced Lead Lighting artist to take part in developing the lighting for an ambitious project on the PC and console platforms. Reporting to the Art Director, the Lead Lighting artist plays the role of a visual storyteller, delivering outstanding work to support all scene elements from previs to the final picture look for the game. This position also involves providing feedback and briefs to team members to help realize the game’s vision, assisting the Art Director.

Role:

  • Cinematic Look development for PBR
  • Understanding the product art direction requirements for atmospherics and mood and translating them into efficient real-time lighting requirements
  • Maintaining visibility on the progress and accurately predicting and delivering to deadlines
  • Overseeing the lighting pipeline and defining and ensuring benchmark quality from pre-production to release

Key Responsibility:

  • Mentoring and developing artists to consistently deliver to AAA standards
  • Collaborating with other teams to ensure optimal function and technical performance
  • Strong understanding of shaders, lighting functionality in level design, and photography
  • Delivering accurate estimates to project management
  • Ensuring technical, visual, and organizational compliance with defined standards through development
  • Translating Art direction into the creation of a high standard pipeline for visual quality and performance

Required Skills:

  • At least 2 shipped titles as a Senior Lighting artist on PC or console and some leadership experience
  • Very experienced with PC and console platform requirements
  • Expert knowledge in PBR
  • Fluency in business-level English
  • Proficiency in Unreal Engine or similar, including optimization
  • High level of shader understanding
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong eye for color, deep knowledge of cinematography and photography
  • Deep understanding of the physics and principles of light
  • Must be eligible to work in the EU/Netherlands
