NeoBards is seeking a talented and experienced Material Artist to join our team and oversee the creation and management of material assets for our upcoming projects.

Key responsibilities

    • Develop and create high-quality PBR materials
    • Conduct technical research and optimize material performance within the game engine
    • Ensure the quality of texture and material assets for both internal projects and outsourced deliveries meet project standards
    • Collaborate effectively across departments

Essential skills

    • Proficient in creating material shaders using Unreal Engine
    • Solid understanding of Unreal Engine workflows and performance optimization
    • Familiarity with PBR material creation pipelines
    • Skilled in procedural material generation (Substance 3D Designer)

Other Qualification

    • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a relevant role
    • Associate degree or higher in Art, Fine Arts, or a related field
    • Basic English communication skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and Fluent in Chinese
    • Proficient with tools including: 3ds Max, Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, Substance 3D Designer, Substance 3D Painter, Unreal Engine, Marmoset Toolbag
    • Experience working on at least one released mobile or console title
    • Knowledge of lighting concepts and experience with production is a plus

Role

    • Responsible for the definition of the vision and creation of high quality game art content on pc and high end console platform
    • Provides guidance and feedback for all artists within team and is heading the art production within the project.
    • Promotes, evangelize and support the game vision to the team and stake holders both internally and externally.
    • Delivers to the highest standards in entertainment experience.

Key Responsibilities

    • Defines the vision in accordance with needs of the product and ensure its delivery on time and on quality.
    • Manages and grows his team upholding the highest managerial standards.
    • Evangelizes the game vision in the team and throughout the company.
    • Reports to game director and independently manages challenges and mitigation strategiesValidates with the subject matter leads the outsourced assets.
    • Is responsible for the final visual quality of the final product.
    • Oversees the delivery of asset across multiple development sites.

Required Skills

    • A10 years or above of solid experience in Game development (Console game is preferred)
    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and in writing.
    • Can present his vision using ad-hoc medium to team and executives.
    • Able to articulate a high level concept and extrapolate the low level ruleset to deploy it.
    • Deep understanding of art theory applied to composition, animation and lighting.
    • Experience with multiple game engines.
    • At least 4 shipped titles as art director preferably with 2 on the last generation of console
    • Extensive experience in Terrain creation and high end characters.
    • Fluent in english or mandarin is a must

    • Design combat based on a third-person perspective
    • Set the rules and fun of the game in battles and multiplayer games.
    • According to the game objectives, interactive elements, and scene design, determine the most suitable combat design experience
    • Define the combat system and required functions, and collaborate with other professionals to determine the production methods and processes required for combat.
    • Guide the combat design team to ensure that the production results are consistent with the game goals, and assist team members in work planning and growth

Key Responsibilities

    • Review the design documents of the combat design team to ensure the readability of the documents and allow different professionals to fully understand the design interests and goals
    • Set the combat system and design direction to ensure that the combat team design is consistent with the game objectives
    • Lead the combat design team and related professionals to ensure the efficiency and quality of the team members are in line with the game goals
    • Provide guidance and education training to team members to enhance their abilities
    • Review the production results to ensure their quality and playability.

Required Skills

    • Worked as a combat designer for action games for over 5 years
    • Once led the combat design of a project
    • Experience in producing third-person, real-time 3D action combat games
    • Experience in designing online battle games
    • Understand the relationship between behavior status and action composition when making characters
    • Good and effective communication skills
    • Familiar with office software applications and have document management skills
    • Proficient in Unity and Unreal engines

    • Design levels that meet the needs of action games
    • Able to plan the overall process and rhythm of level play and write documents
    • Integrate visual, auditory, and gameplay design requirements to create a prototype of the level
    • Synchronize the understanding of design specifications in various professional fields to fully understand the production goals
    • Optimization and debugging of level content

Key Responsibilities

    • Clearly indicate the level design content and provide specification documents through graphics or various media
    • Ensure the readability of the document so that different professionals can fully understand the design interests and goals
    • After compiling all professional design opinions, use game development tools to create the corresponding level prototype
    • After compiling all the materials, edit all the gameplay and event content within the level and deliver it for real-machine testing.
    • Final level bug fixes and quality optimization

Required Skills

    • More than 5 years of experience in game planning, or those with original works for reference
    • Participated in and led the game level production work, and it would be better if you have complete project development experience

    • Possess architectural space concept

Required Skills

    • A minimum of 3 years of being a technical artist or graphics programmer, having game development experience is a plus
    • Experienced in Maya, Substance is a plus
    • Familiar with Unreal Engine shader/material, have experience in developing materials in game
    • Familiar with Python or Maya scripting
    • Interest in procedural content generation, a proactive approach to acquiring new knowledge, a willingness to share knowledge
    • Good at communication and coordination, and capable of documenting complex processes so that users can easily get started
